Jack Layton passed away at 4:45 am today, Monday August 22

Jack Layton, the New Democratic Party leader who led his party to Official Opposition status in this year’s federal election, has died after a battle with cancer. He was 61.

Statement today from Jack Layton's wife and two children: "We deeply regret to inform you that The Honourable Jack Layton, leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada, passed away at 4:45 am today, Monday August 22. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and loved ones. Details of Mr. Layton’s funeral arrangements will be forthcoming."

Sad. Age 61 is not very old.

I was very upset & shocked to hear of Jack's death. He brought the NDP to where it is today.We will miss him dearly.

为什么他在家走的，不是在高官高干医院走的？？？
为什么他家人一直守候着，不是去舞会宴会等电召？？？
为什么死去几小时全世界都知道了，不是要听党的指挥，服从党的利益？？？

一路好走，对不起，我们不流行把你做成蜡像放在琉璃棺木里变相游街，我们也不流行在你家乡做皇墓招徕游客。

我们保证多伦多将会有条Layton Street，不过没有几个人尤其是中国移民会知道会记得你是谁。

我好多年都不看电视啦，就一山沟里的作风。

记得当年谁谁轰炸科索沃，两周后见一帮朋友，大家说起科索沃，我问科索沃怎么啦，把大家搞得像看怪物一样看着我。
