BURNABY – The missing mother of two, Lancy Hu, has been found dead. Her ex-husband has been charged with first degree murder.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has confirmed earlier this afternoon that Hu’s body was found in a suitcase in the Fraser River by some fishermen on August 27.
Police say the discovery was not made public until charges were laid.
Hu was originally reporting missing by her husband, 35-year-old Zhongming (James) Mou, who said he last saw her when he dropped her off at her Burnaby apartment on July 15.
But his story changed. Investigators determined that Hu was last seen by her husband on the morning of July 16 as she left their family home in Coquitlam.
Police say 27-year-old Hu and her husband were separated and were going through what appears to be a messy divorce. Her parents said there was domestic violence involved.
The couple’s children were in Mou’s custody until his arrest. They are now in the care of his parents.
Police would not say how Hu died.
Mou is due to appear in court on Monday.
